Mission Statement
The Seekers of Virtue are comitted to the development of an evolving, friendly and loyal online community, dedicated to helping one another out whilst having themselves a great time.
Code of Conduct
Enjoyment
Let’s not forget that we are here to have fun and enjoy ourselves. The Seekers of Virtue consider having fun to be one of our prime objectives. However, having fun should never be at the expense of others. We don’t spoil it for anyone else. Ever.
Active Members
The Seekers of Virtue expect all characters to be reasonably active. If your character has not been online for over 3 months you will be removed from the Guild. Extended periods of absence are only permitted if you arrange it with the Guild Master. A note from your mum will be accepted only in extreme circumstances.
Loyalty
The Seekers of Virtue expect loyalty from our members. We will not tolerate disloyalty or disrespect of any kind to the Guild or its members. We do not approve of people who jump from Guild to Guild for their own personal gain (so-called Guild Slags), people who give little and take much.
Leaving the Guild
You are free to leave the Guild at any point. However if you do choose to leave, please explain your reasons for leaving to the Guild Master so that the Guild has an opportunity to address any issues that you have identified. We appreciate that there may be many different reasons why someone would choose to leave - however leaving a Guild without saying a word is extremely rude and disrespectful. Simple courtesy goes a long way, and will stand you in good stead should you wish to rejoin the Guild at a later date. Please note that once you leave the Guild you may not be allowed back unless the Guild Master approves it. Please also note you may be branded a ‘Splitter’ for a short probationary period.
Behaviour
As a member of the Guild you are expected to behave in a polite and civilised manner at all times. A laugh and a joke is one thing but stupidity and unpleasantness is quite another. Respect must always be shown to other Guild members and to players in general. Racism, sexism, homophobia or any other form of prejudice, abuse or harassment will not be tolerated and will result in instant dismissal from the Guild. In extreme circumstances you may also be reported to Blizzard.
Language
For the purpose of mutual understanding The Seekers of Virtue is an English-speaking Guild, as this seems to be the most commonly spoken language across the realm. Please try to speak English when engaged in Guild chat, to avoid alienating those who do not speak your first language. When in a group, it is also courteous to agree on a common language to use across the party channel, as there is nothing worse on a quest than having absolutely no idea what your fellow questers are talking about. Apart from dying repeatedly. That’s probably worse.
Guild Chat
Never use the Guild chat to argue or speak negatively about someone. Sort any disputes by whispering to each other or use the forums. Other players do not want to see your rantings on their screen. Please also avoid excessive or gratuitous swearing and profanity, as some people are more easily offended than others. Also, try to keep Guild chat mutually interesting and interactive, rather than a running blow-by-blow commentary on your current quest. Jokes are what we need. Good ones. And chat in praise of our glorious Guild Master, of course.
Guild Bank Vault
The guild bank is available to all guild members above the rank of initiate although the amount you can withdraw depends upon your rank. Tabs 1 and 2 are for general swapping of materials and potions etc; Tab 3 is for officer access only and contains raid loot and enchanting mats. If you take items from Tabs 1 & 2 you are expected to put something in their place. In Tab 3 the enchanting materials are for sale at significant discout to guild members but are intended for the sole purpose of enchanting your own gear. If you need to purchase enchanting mats ask the Guild Master about prices. The guild bank gold is for progressing the guild by purchasing further bank tabs, arena charters and competition prizes. It is not available to guild members for loans or mount purchases.
Trading within the Guild
Although we want to avoid the Guild chat becoming a trade channel, if you have an item of rarity that you do not require, it may be of benefit to other guild members to offer the item for sale over the Guild chat. However, this should only be done for rare (green, blue and purple) items, or for large quantities or trade goods (such as metal, cloth, etc), NOT for mundane items. Please exercise discretion before offering an item for sale, as this aspect of the Guild chat will be monitored and excessive trading may result in the practice being banned from the Guild channel.
Begging
Begging by Guild members, using Guild chat or any other channel, is absolutely forbidden. It is also forbidden to ask for money openly in the streets, as this is bad for the reputation of the Guild. Any member found begging will receive a warning. Repeat offenders will be removed from the Guild.
Guild Officers
Please follow any reasonable instructions issued by Guild Officers. If you disagree with an officer’s decision you may challenge them (politely) or take your complaint to the Guild Master.
Punishment
If you are found to have violated our Code of Conduct or are behaving in a way that makes the Guild look bad you may be punished in one of three ways: 1) Unable to take part in Guild chat; 2) Demoted to a lower rank or 3) Removed from the Guild (this is always a last resort). If you feel you have been punished unfairly, and can offer a reasoned case in your defence, you may appeal to the Guild Master, who will try to treat all issues in a fair and impartial manner.
Looting Rules
When questing in a group you should always discuss looting expectations prior to beginning a quest.
Raid Looting
In Raids we use Master Looter (unless the raid leader forgets to switch it on!) The raid leader will take all green items for disenchantment and storage in the guild bank. Blue items can be rolled for or put in the bank. Epic gear is allocated by the raid leader to the most deserving player; in most cases this will be the winner of the roll. Officers and veterans may be given priority if the raid leader decides it is beneficial to the guild to do so.
Group Looting
NEVER loot a corpse or chest while any member of your party is in combat. This will distract your party and may contribute to unnecessary casualties or a group wipe.
If an item drops that you "Need" you must say so in chat prior to rolling. Items that are class specific should only be "Need" rolled by that class.
You must either "Pass" or roll "Greed" on those items that you do not need.
DO NOT roll on "Bind on Pickup" items, that you know for sure someone else in the party has better use for.
Chest Looting
Never loot a chest right away
Let your group know that a chest has been found.
Type /roll, this will give out a number between 1-100. (This is considered a roll)
The highest number (roll) gets all of the items in the chest. However, it is only polite to offer items that you cannot use to others in the group that can.
Guild Ranks and promotion guidelines
There are many ways to gain rank in the Guild. One of the most important is being active! Only active members will get promoted. You must participate in questing, raiding, and helping others. Be a team player. Those that have a "me me me" attitude rather than a "good of the many" principle have little chance of being promoted. Be sure to check the requirements for gaining ranks below, as each rank has different conditions of entry.
Initiate
All newcomers to the guild begin as an initiate. To leave this rank and progress to becoming a full member initiates must fill in their professions/spec in the Guild information window and remain in the guild for at least one week. This is a probationary rank, allowing initiates time to decide whether the Seekers of Virtue is the Guild for them, and the Guild to decide whether the initiate stays.
Member
Most Guildies will be awarded this rank, but this is by no means a common or lowly position. This rank indicates that you have been fully accepted into the Guild and are a valued member. You will remain at this rank until you fulfil the requirements for further promotion. Some members prefer to remain at this rank if they do not wish to take part in raids and instance runs.
Veteran
This rank is awarded to long standing guild members who have demonstrated an intention to remain with the Seekers of Virtue. At this level you may, if the raid leader agrees, be offered priority over lower ranks when looting bosses. However, this must be discussed and announced before the encounter begins.
Guild Officer Ranks
Officers are the governing members of the Guild and are ultimately responsible for making important Guild decisions. They are responsible for organizing the Guild so that we can achieve our end game goals. All Guild Officers are hand picked by the Guild Master on an as needed basis. When an opening for an officer position is available it will be posted in the Guild forums. Any member may apply for an officer position. The following are guidelines (not requirements) that the Guild Master takes into consideration when selecting an officer. Guidelines for becoming an officer are subject to change at any time by the Guild Master:
Officer
Achieving this honoured rank means that you have proven yourself in battle and have learned to play your character skilfully and honourably in group instances. Members of this rank are given priority for leading or participating in raids and instance runs. This rank indicates that you are an experienced player, well trained in your class and ready for battle.
Class Leader
Class leaders are the official advisors for each individual class. They will be available to answer class specific questions on talent builds, quests, armour, weapons, and drop locations. They will actively post this information under their class section in the Guild forums. They are also available to help members learn how to play their specific class as needed. An additional role for the Class Leadersis to assist with the recruiting process for their class. They will help screen applications, conduct interviews and participate in a quest/raid run to help evaluate if an applicant should be invited to the Guild. Class Leaders are chosen based on their player participation, class knowledge/experience, communication skills, leadership ability, and dedication to the Guild. They also take an active part in officer voting regarding Guild changes, demotions, promotions and other Guild decisions.
Conditions of becoming a Class Leader:
· Must be a minimum of level 70· Must have an in-depth knowledge of your class abilities and group role· Must have demonstrated leadership ability, the willingness to mentor others, and be active in our Guild forums· Must be able to commit the time to get to know all members of your class and help them learn their characters· Must be a member of The Seekers of Virtue a minimum of 6 months· Must be chosen by Guild Master
Guild Master
The Guild Master is the designer, co-ordinator and director of the Guild, with full rights over the administration of the entire Guild. Although the Guild is mostly run in a democratic fashion, the Guild Master has ultimate control and power of veto over all aspects of the Guild. As with all benevolent dictatorships, promotion to the very top is not an option…
